How many Lumecca IPL treatments will I need?

While standard IPL devices may require 4-6 treatments, most patients achieve complete photo rejuvenation within 1-2 treatments with Lumecca IPL.

Are IPL skin treatments painful?

Intense Pulsed Light therapy are virtually painless, and patients might experience warm, pinching, or stinging sensations on areas of the skin that are being treated. Lumecca IPL also utilizes a strong sapphire cooling tip for greater treatment comfort.

How can I prepare for my IPL treatment in Kelowna?

• Avoid tanning or self-tanner for 3-4 weeks prior.

• Wear SPF daily.

• Avoid retinol products for 1 week prior.

• Notify your aesthetician of any medications or changes to medications.

What are the side effects and aftercare for Lumecca IPL?

• After your treatment, you may experience temporary swelling, redness, or bruising.

• Some discomfort or skin irritation after an IPL treatment is normal. It might feel like a mild sunburn.

• The pigmented areas may also temporarily darken.

• Your medical aesthetician will go over aftercare instructions with you, which may include:

  • Avoiding direct sunlight or tanning beds for 3-6 weeks​

  • Avoid using self-tanner for 3-6 weeks

  • Avoiding retinol products or exfoliants for 1 week

  • Avoid heavy exertion, alcohol, or aspirin for 2 days

  • Use sensitive cleansers and avoid hot water or running the skin for 2-3 days

  • Apply SPF daily

  • Apply ice pack to treatment area to relieve any stinging sensations
